Licenses invalid since 10.7.2021

You notice that your MaxBack VSS Writer licenses are reported as invalid when you execute the command

maxback.vssclient read

or in the event log. 

This is caused by the expiration of a intermediate certificate on 10.7.2021 and a program error in the license check.

Hot Fix for MaxBack VSS Writer 2.x

We have provided a fix for this issue for version 2.x:

MaxBack VSS Writer 2.3.4

Before installing the new version, uninstall older VSS Writer 2.x installations and then install the fixed version. 

Other Versions

• Version 3.x is not affected by the problem. 
• Version 1.x is affected by the problem but out of support. Please request a new license file if you are still using version 1.x.

If you are unable to update affected systems in the short term, we can provide you an updated license file.
